Swallowing Pride

pride in poetry

I take a big gulp, and swallow my pride
Squeezed like a pulp, taking a better side

A new approach to the madness I view
I’m just a cockroach who had not a clue

Few can admit when they’re negligent of fact
However, I retract
statements that were abstract

Stacked against my odds, I retracted my claws
I fumbled arguments and found they were flawed

Now I applaud the people who were right
I thawed my solid mind and have a new sight
I wish not to fight on this most beautiful night
Look toward the future and forget the hindsight.
